After the last very unpredictable two years of limited singing together and no concerts, the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir is thrilled to be able to present “A Canadian Christmas” concert on Saturday, December 11th, 2021 at Central Heights Church in Abbotsford.
The entire program features Canadian composers and arrangers whom you’ll be astonished by! Our Senior group will be Irish dancing to “I Saw Three Ships” as well as performing a handful of old Canadian carols. Our Junior group will perform some haunting lullabies for the Christ Child as well as lead you in a Christmas favourite, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year”.
PMCC just recently added a brand new grouping of young singers ages 5-8 years old called “The Tinies”, directed by Andrea Pederson. We are so thrilled to be able to feature these young singers in our concert this year. Just think, how glorious it might sound to hear 80 young voices singing together with incredible musicians and a wonderful audience!
We will join our voices together with The Vancouver Brass Quintet, members of the Abbotsford Youth Orchestra, and some other special guests. We look forward to celebrating and singing about the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ’s birth. And of course, the program will include some fun Christmas favourites as well!
*PLEASE NOTE: As a condition of our rental of the facility, this concert must comply with the BC Public Health Orders which include that all concert attendees 12 and older must be fully vaccinated in order to attend. Please have your vaccine card and ID ready to present at the door.
Masks are required while inside the building.
We look forward to seeing you!
On July 2, 2018, twenty-two of our Cantare singers left for Powell River, BC, to compete in the International Choral Kathaumixw. Kathaumixw is taken from a Coast Salish word meaning “a gathering together of different peoples.” We had a wonderful time meeting people from around the world and we got to hear some amazing choirs!
On Thursday morning, July 5th, we competed in the Children’s Choir category along with 4 other choirs. Then, on Friday afternoon we found out that we had placed second! First place went to the Young People’s Chorus of NYC, a phenomenal show choir. They also won “Choir of the World at Kathaumixw” – a well-deserved win for them!
We performed in two concerts at Kathaumixw, enjoyed amazing food at Culacinno’s (check them out if you’re ever in Powell River), sang around the town, hiked, and made new friends. We were inspired by the amazing music we heard all week, and we are looking forward to a great 2018-2019 season!
Looking ahead: Christmas at the Chan with Joel Tranquilla & TWU Choirs (Dec. 2); joint concert with Valley Festival Singers (date TBA); and more wonderful singing!
